National Desk: Ahead of the crucial Budget Session of Parliament, political parties came together on Monday for an all-party meeting chaired by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi. The session, set to begin on February 1 with President Murmu’s address, is expected to conclude on February 9, barring unforeseen circumstances.

A key highlight of the session will be the presentation of the interim Union Budget by Finance Minister Sitharaman on February 2. This interim budget bridges the financial gap until a new government takes office after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Industry stakeholders, including the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), have actively voiced their expectations for the budget. CII’s recommendations focus on crucial fiscal measures, including meeting disinvestment targets, integrating petroleum, electricity, and real estate into the GST framework, and significantly increasing capital expenditure (capex) allocation to Rs 12 lakh crore. Additionally, the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Investment has been proposed.

The all-party meeting serves as a vital platform for discussing the session’s agenda and fostering cooperation among various political factions. As India navigates towards the general elections, the upcoming Budget Session promises to be a critical juncture for setting the country’s fiscal roadmap for the future.
