Karimganj, February 3: Karimganj police foiled a cross-border drug trafficking attempt on Saturday, seizing 55 boxes of heroin and arresting one person. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence in the Chargola area under Karimganj Police Station.
A vehicle bearing registration number MZ 04 A 4827 was intercepted, and upon inspection, 55 soap boxes containing approximately 700 grams of heroin were recovered from secret chambers within the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Christopher Zochhuana, son of Brian Clinton Dawson from Tlangsam village in Champhai district, was apprehended. Legal action has been initiated against him.
This seizure is a significant blow to drug trafficking activities in the region. The recovered heroin has an estimated street value of several crores of rupees. The investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals involved in the smuggling ring.
