Fresh Notices with Tight Deadlines: Kejriwal, Atishi Face Pressure in MLA Poaching Probe

Delhi, Feb 4: The political heat in Delhi has intensified as the Delhi Police Crime Branch served fresh notices on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leader Atishi, demanding evidence to support their accusations of BJP attempting to poach AAP MLAs. This latest development tightens the screws on both sides, raising questions about the future of the investigation and the stability of the AAP government.

The notices stem from Kejriwal’s tweet on January 27th, where he made explosive claims about the BJP offering bribes of ₹25 crore each to AAP MLAs to switch parties. The Crime Branch, investigating the complaint, has requested Kejriwal to submit any information or evidence related to the alleged crime by February 5th. Atishi, who also accused the BJP of “Operation Lotus 2.0” aimed at toppling the government, has three days to respond.

While AAP leader Jasmine Shah downplayed the notices, calling them “letters on white paper” with no legal weight, BJP leaders have vehemently refuted the claims and demanded cooperation with the investigation. Shehzad Poonawalla called Kejriwal and his associates “fugitives” for not cooperating, while BJP MP Pravesh Verma accused AAP of making baseless allegations to divert attention.

With both sides presenting conflicting narratives and the police seeking concrete evidence by tight deadlines, the future of the case remains uncertain. This development is likely to further escalate the political tension in Delhi and raise questions about the potential impact on the stability of the AAP government. Whether Kejriwal and Atishi can provide the necessary proof or not remains to be seen, but the coming days will be crucial in determining the trajectory of the investigation and its potential ramifications for Delhi’s political landscape.
