International Desk, February 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commended UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his exemplary support towards the Indian community during the Covid-19 crisis. Speaking at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event in Abu Dhabi, PM Modi expressed gratitude for President Al Nahyan’s proactive measures and assurance of the well-being of Indians residing in the UAE.

Recalling the challenging times of the pandemic, PM Modi highlighted President Al Nahyan’s reassuring response, stating, “When I said that we were trying to bring back the Indians from there due to the pandemic, he asked me not to worry. He took care of everyone and made all arrangements for vaccinations, alleviating my concerns. I really didn’t need to worry.”

PM Modi also underscored President Al Nahyan’s consistent praise for the Indian diaspora and their significant contribution to the development of the UAE. He recounted a recent visit to Gujarat where large crowds gathered to express gratitude to President Al Nahyan for his unwavering support towards Indians in the UAE.

During his speech, PM Modi emphasized the strong bond between India and the UAE, noting the significant presence of Indians in the Arabian Peninsula nation. He stated, “Whenever I meet my brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, he praises you all very much. He praises your role in UAE’s progress.”

The Prime Minister further conveyed a message of pride from the people of India to the Indian diaspora in the UAE, stating, “I have brought with me the fragrance of the soil where you were born and a message of 140 crore citizens of India that ‘Bharat is proud of you’.”

PM Modi’s visit to the UAE also saw the inauguration of the BAPS Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, underscoring the cultural ties between the two nations. Additionally, bilateral agreements were signed between India and the UAE during the visit, further strengthening their relationship.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE from February 13-14 signifies the importance of the strategic partnership between India and the UAE, fostering cooperation in various sectors for mutual benefit.
