New Delhi, Feb 29: In a coordinated effort between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police, an alleged smuggler was apprehended with a packet of suspected heroin in the Amritsar district. The joint operation, aimed at countering smuggling activities in the Ramdas area of Ajnala, was prompted by specific intelligence provided by the BSF.

During the operation conducted on Tuesday evening, BSF and the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar intercepted a white car carrying two suspects from Ajnala’s side. While one suspect was successfully detained, the other managed to evade capture and is currently being pursued.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of one packet, approximately weighing 500 grams, of suspected heroin concealed within brown adhesive tape. The apprehended suspect, along with the seized contraband and the white car, was taken into custody for further investigation.

This joint operation highlights the commitment of the BSF Intelligence team and SSOC Amritsar to combat drug smuggling in Punjab. The collaboration with sister agencies underscores their determination to eradicate such illicit activities from the region.

Efforts to locate and apprehend the absconding smuggler are ongoing, with authorities awaiting further details into the matter.
