In her speech, she extolled the building as an embodiment of India’s past glories and future aspirations.

“The new Parliament building carries the fragrance of ‘Shrestha Bharat’ and reflects the magnificence of our culture and civilization,” declared President Murmu. She emphasized its symbolic construction at the dawn of Amrit Kaal, the 25-year period leading up to India’s 100th year of independence, and its role in shaping the nation’s journey towards becoming a developed country.

The President lauded the building’s architectural design, stating that it “encapsulates the spirit of democracy and parliamentary traditions.” She further expressed her hope that the new Parliament would serve as a beacon of inspiration for future generations to uphold these values.

This address also marked the commencement of the budget session of Parliament, the last for the current Lok Sabha before the upcoming general elections. The session witnessed the revocation of suspensions imposed on opposition MPs during the previous winter session, paving the way for a more inclusive and vibrant parliamentary discourse.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the interim budget on February 1st, setting the stage for discussions on the government’s financial plans for the coming year. With the inauguration of the new Parliament building and the commencement of the budget session, India embarks on a crucial chapter in its parliamentary and economic journey, carrying the legacy of the past and striving towards a brighter future.
