Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, Feb 9: A delegation from Fiji, led by Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad, embarked on a momentous visit to Ayodhya, marking the first trip by a foreign leader to the holy city since the inauguration of the Ram Temple on January 22nd. This historic visit underscores the deep cultural and spiritual ties between the Indian diaspora in Fiji and their ancestral homeland.

Prasad, along with other representatives of the Indian community in Fiji, arrived in Ayodhya eager to experience the religious and cultural significance of the city. During a media interaction, he emphasized the strong connection Fijians of Indian origin feel towards their roots, noting how their ancestors carried the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana with them when they arrived in Fiji during British colonial rule. This rich cultural heritage continues to shape the identity of the Indian community in Fiji.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his excitement about the visit, highlighting the passionate response Fijians have towards Ayodhya, particularly when it comes to anything related to Lord Ram’s birthplace. He pointed out that despite diverse religious backgrounds, the celebration of Diwali in Fiji is a grand affair, even recognized as a national public holiday.

Considering his visit to Ayodhya a privilege, Prasad emphasized the importance of witnessing the revered Lord Ram. He believes the newly constructed Ram Temple will further strengthen the already strong bond between India and Fiji.

Delving deeper into the connection, Prasad mentioned that Fijians of Indian origin, primarily from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, hold a special affinity for Ayodhya. He expressed a desire to further strengthen these ties.
