Justice Vijay Bishnoi was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court on Monday, February 5th, 2024.

Guwahati, Feb 5: Justice Vijay Bishnoi was administered the oath of office to Justice Vijay Bishnoi as the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court on Monday.

Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria administered the oath of office to Justice Vijay Bishnoi at a solemn function held at Raj Bhavan on Monday in presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Justice Vijay Bishnoi was the Judge of the Rajasthan High Court. Prior to his judicial career, he practiced law at the Rajasthan High Court and the Central Administrative Tribunal in Jodhpur, specialising in civil, criminal, Constitutional, service, and election cases. During his nearly eleven years as a High Court Judge, he has authored 652 reported judgments, demonstrating extensive experience in dispensing justice.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Speaker Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Ranjit Dass, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Assam Paban Kumar Borthakur,  Advocate General Assam Devajit Saikia, DGP G.P.Singh, DGP, Meghalaya L.R.Bishnoi, Judges of Gauhati High Court, members from legal fraternity, and other senior officials of State govt.
