Diphu, February 6: In a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, the Assam Police apprehended a notorious drug supplier from Manipur attempting to smuggle a large quantity of suspected narcotics through the porous Khatkhati-Laharijan sector along the Assam-Nagaland border. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Assam Police to curb drug trafficking activities across the state.

The arrested individual, identified as Mangkhanlal Guite (23) from Manipur, was traveling on a night super bus (AS25 AC 0094) from Dimapur to Tinsukia when he was intercepted by a joint team led by the SDPO of Bokajan and personnel from the Khatkhati Police Station and 20 Bn CRPF during a routine checking at a Naka point near a bank in Khatkhati on Monday night at 8 PM.

Upon thorough search, the team discovered 13 soap boxes containing 154.79 grams of heroin and two packets containing 1172.42 grams of cannabis cleverly concealed by Guite inside his luggage. The seized drugs were confiscated in the presence of Nayanmoni Barman, Additional SP (Crime) of Karbi Anglong District.

This successful operation demonstrates the Assam Police’s unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking in the state. The investigation into this case is currently ongoing, and further details are expected to be revealed soon.
