Jaipur, March 1: In a series of tragic events amidst adverse weather conditions, six individuals have lost their lives to lightning strikes in various parts of Rajasthan. The incidents occurred as the region experienced rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms, attributed to the impact of a new western disturbance, as stated by the weather department.

In the Chauth Ka Barwada Police Station area of Sawai Madhopur, a couple, Rajendra Meena (30) and Jalebi Meena (28), met their untimely demise when lightning struck them while they were working in the fields at Bagina village. Similarly, in the Baunli area of the same district, a youth named Dhannalal Meena lost his life due to lightning while grazing sheep at Nantodi village, where both he and his flock were struck.

Tragedy struck again in Dausa, claiming the lives of two individuals – a school student and a young man riding a bike – after they were hit by lightning. Additionally, a woman in Devgaon of Chaksu tehsil in Jaipur district lost her life due to a lightning strike while harvesting mustard crops in the field.

The impact of the lightning strikes extended beyond casualties, with four employees falling unconscious after lightning struck the Panchayat Samiti office in the Piplu Police Station area of Tonk district.

The Meteorological Department reported widespread rain and hailstorms across the state, attributed to a circulation system formed over southwestern Rajasthan and the surrounding Pakistan region. The adverse weather conditions led to light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and sudden strong winds in various divisions including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Udaipur.

Authorities urge residents to exercise caution and stay indoors during such adverse weather conditions to avoid potential harm.
